Pop Up Sunroof

The vertical rise skylight design:

This gives a 60cm rise which would take about 35 seconds with the actuator being evaluated here. That’s slow but one presumes that going on the roof is not something that is done several times a day. When it comes to opening for ventilation, that is not much of a n issue, especially since we don’t need the full 60cm extension.
That being said, there are two ways of doing this:

1) We can have the actuators on top of the roof.

2) We can have the actuators below the roof when they are retracted. The second options would require to have some available space below the roof. More specifically around the shower enclosure. Check with the shower enclosure and what is around to see if we could fit 2 pistons. They can be oriented anywhere as long as they are 180 degrees apart.

Option 1:

Option 2:

Some actuator statistics:

Minimum length when retracted 730 mm
The extension is 600 mm, which would be adequate for someone to pass through. There are others sizes available, up to 1.1 meter extension on a 1 meter minimum length.

The website does not specify the torque, it only say "requests", which means that we can select the proper motor for our needs. As for the load (the wight of the skylight) it is rated at a maximum of 1,500Newtons. Given Charlie analogy, 1 N is a chocolate bar held at arm's lenght. A chocolate bar is about 50g, so 75 kg per piston. That is way more than we need.
According to Alessio, regarding the actuators: "we have room enough to place 2 of them simmetrically, in a position that doesn't interfere at all with the window or the door.
See images with Alessio’s annotations:

Essentially, \we are limited to the thickness of the wall because we can go down as much as we want unless we are aligned with the shower door, which gives us 197 mm or the window ? Which gives us 491 mm when we need 600 mm for the actuator. As for the thickness, we are limited by the 100 mm space inside the walls. That is between the shower shell inner wall and the bedroom wall and whatever wall does not belong to the bathroom or bedroom, probably the high part of the kitchen wall. So, 100 mm is what we are playing with as far as the size of the motor and the diameter of the actuator piston goes. Unfortunately, the website is rather silent about that.
