Description
The objective of this project is to design an AI application that can collect data of marine life forms, analyze and store that data for marine research. The application must be able to perform the following activities:
- Record footage from an underwater camera, ideally mounted on a buoy
- Identify in the footage some of the species that we are most likely to encounter, then this can form the training data for a machine learning-based classifier
- Store that data for marine research.
Why this is important
Our oceans and marine lifeforms largely remain unexplored. With this equipment and software, we may be able to discover new species, study patterns like migrating patterns and mating patterns of our marine lifeforms.
